Democratising Debt - Part 2, Will Remor, Ep 209
Blockchain what?! There’s a short video I’ve done on this topic if you want to get an injection of knowledge around this fast: https://youtu.be/i5bWkSsLmfc) .
Democratising debt - what's the big deal? How this will happen (ie, through the use of Non-Fungible Tokens) and what this means for you and me is quite something, given the size of debt markets internationally.
Investing in a debt-instruments like bonds aren’t new -but let’s be honest, it’s not that sexy. I think we’re bringing sexy back with today's episode just quietly.
Like today's topic, investing in crypto involves so much more than waiting for the price to go up. There’s a platform I use to earn yield from some of my crypto-assets – it’s called Celsius (and here's an affiliate link if you want to support the show https://celsiusnetwork.app.link/191578f83e
I'm currently earning earn 5.35% on my Ethereum, which is payable in Ethereum. Now from a risk point of view, we’re not comparing apples and apples here with a term deposit so please don't look at this as a low risk investment option but it paints a picture. A lot of decentralised finance appears to the outsider to me mere speculation - but once you accept it for what it is, you can see just how disruptive this is going to get.
Already I can make this choice: Invest in a term deposit and earn maybe 2% but then I'm left with dollars that were worth far more when I started saving them. – the interest rate is rubbish and my dollars are depreciating. On Celsius, I’m getting 5.35%, and the asset saved, in this case Ethereum, has increased by around 6 times this year alone. No it’s not perfect and it’s not without risk, but it’s part of the same future we’re talking about today.
