Risk and Reward: Naomi Ballantyne, Ep 278
I wonder if it's soon possible that investment returns, especially when adjusted for inflation, could be lower for much longer in the future world. How do we get better than average returns then?
We take higher levels of risk, invest more, use less diversification and more leverage, and invest in what many consider speculative bets, like Bitcoin.
If we adopt a higher risk strategy though, we have to be able to endure all sorts fear. Market downturns, job losses, relationship break downs, war and civil unrest – whatever comes next, If you’re wealth is tied up in property, or you’re investing in volatile investments that need time to cook, this is why you need personal insurance.
All insurance is, are contracts that you enter into where you trade premiums, for the right to receive a possible balloon payment, or a series of monthly payments, or the reimbursement of medical costs, if certain events occur.
If you’re stuffed, munted, or set back in some other nasty way, insurance can assist in helping clean up the money mess. What’s more, it helps you stay invested.
